When Work Sucks

I get so many wonderful comments and kudos from the T4D blog members…(THANK YOU for that). Occasionally I also receive some “what if” questions…such as?
What if I work with a bunch of dis-engaged, toxic, joy sucking co-workers?
What if my boss is an imbecile?
What can I do to survive a new leadership team that hasn’t figured out how to get along or agree on a clear path forward …causing ever changing directives to be given to a frazzled and confused workplace?
What if I mired in a project that I find to be tedious and uninspiring?
WHAT IF WORK SUCKS?
So this morning - I was just thinking about some of these questions and decided to give Google a chance to be Dr. Phil. So I queried “When Work Sucks?” and ended up reading a most wonderful blog post by the same title. I have included the link below for you - if you may need it. I certainly hope you do not… I didn’t feel like I did personally…but I still enjoyed what the author Ronnie Ann had to share.

In the end… Work is What it is and cannot choose to make itself interesting or “unsucky”… We must figure out how to make our work….work for us.

The bottom line is our economy operates on money. So whether you work for yourself or someone else, you will have to work in some fashion. The word is “work” not “play”, so you would expect some discomfort to come from it. But, go at it each day with an open mind, good spirits, positive outlook, and give each day a fresh chance. Never forget that even though work is required, you are trading a very valuable commodity for it - hours out of your life. So don’t be a martyr or a sad sack or a vengeful vindictive grump. Do what you’ve got to do and at the end of the day, take a deep breath, put a smile on your face, and enjoy your time off.

When work sucks, blow the joint.
Find something else to do (and somewhere else to do it), something meaningful, inspiring, worthwhile. It’s possible.

We work to live, not live to work. Get busy ‘living’ and the rest pales into insignificance.
