Not Deciding is Deciding

Monday, November 30th, 2009

“Most people think that making decisions is hard, especially financial decisions, so they end up burying their heads in the sand, hoping someone else will make their decisions for them. The thing to realize is that by not making decisions, we are really making decisions anyway. We are really deciding that we will continue to do what we have done up until now.”  ~ Clayton J. Moore

I decided not to eat too much before Thanksgiving arrived instead of as it arrived.  There is a decision I am thankful for.  :)

Not deciding because you can’t or are afraid is still deciding.  Deciding not to decide may sound like the same thing but is a totally different animal.

Life will not improve in any way, until our decisions improve in some way.  So decide to improve right away and repeat this decision each and every day….

Thankful Surprise & Pumpkin Pies

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I wasn’t going to send another T4D until Dec 1st but then I watched this wonderful youtube clip where they asked people ”What are you thankful for?”  and my soldier brother, who is deployed somewhere in the world, sent me this picture that reveals the true source of pumpkin pies.  The both made me smile and feel good and I wish the same for you!

Mistakes, Failures and the Eager Beaver

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I had a few requests recently for thoughts about mistakes vs. failures.  Here are a few quotes I was able to dig up.

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough. ~  - Og Mandino -

Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.  - Abraham Lincoln -

The person interested in success has to learn to view failure as a healthy, inevitable part of the process of getting to the top.  - Dr. Joyce Brothers -

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.    - Elbert Hubbard -

If you’re not failing every now and again, it’s a sign you’re not doing anything very innovative      - Woody Allen -

Good people are good because they’ve come to wisdom through failure.  - William Saroyan -

In order to succeed you must fail, so that you know what not to do the next time.  - Anthony D’Angelo -

Success is often the result of taking a misstep in the right direction.     - Al Bernstein -

Victory is sweetest when you’ve known defeat.  - Malcolm Forbes -

You learn as much from those who have failed as from those who have succeeded.    - Michael Johnson -

From success to failure is one step; from failure to success is a long road.     - Yiddish Proverb -

Success does not consist in never making blunders, but in never making the same one a second time.     - Josh Billings -

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.     - Al Franken -
Instruction does not prevent wasted time or mistakes; and mistakes themselves are often the best teachers of all.
     - James Anthony Froude -

Our business in life is not to succeed, but to continue to fail in good spirits.      - Robert Louis Stevenson -

The things that hurt us teach us.      - Author Unknown -

Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.      - Marilyn vos Savant -

My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.     - Abraham Lincoln

Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker.      - Zig Ziglar -

Mistakes are much more a sign of eager effort than ignorance.  Repeating mistakes is much more a sign of eager ignorance than wise effort.   What is needful is people that are eager to learn, willing to change and ready to go!  R U ?- EAGER - WISE - and READY TO GO!!  ~ Kirk Weisler

Failure, Success and Finding “X”

failing.jpg

There are many ways to fail….one of the surest ways is to fail to try for fear of failure.

We must not let the fear of failure paralyze us from even making the attempt.  Failure is only certain in this context.

But if we move forward towards our goal….and if we begin the task then every step we take and every minute we spend allows to move closer to success.  In the end, even if we fail to achieve the goal… we succeed in obtaining more knowledge, experience and growth than we would have had we never made the attempt.

At the very least we can circle the X and say… “Here it is”… because finding “X” in your own way may be all the success you need for right now.

stretching and striving

Just read a great blog post titled “Don’t leave “Social” out of Social Media.  Instead they SPAM and Advertise with Social Media tools and seem to miss the point entirely.  Great post.. couldn’t agree more.  To read it click HERE!

Now for today’s T4D!  “People in our lives already see what we are… what they need to see is what we are becoming.  Whether it’s your work team or your home team let the people you serve and live with see you improving day to day, let them see you stretching and striving towards your goals.  Remember the state of becoming….is a most becoming state.”  ~ Kirk & Rebecca Weisler

Weathervane or Compass

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Principle — particularly moral principle — can never be a weathervane, spinning around this way and that with the shifting winds of expediency. Moral principle is a compass forever fixed and forever true.  ~ — Edward R. Lyman

A Deliberate Destiny

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

“Consciously or unconsciously, every one of us does render some service or other. If we cultivate the habit of doing this service deliberately, our desire for service will steadily grow stronger, and will make, not only our own happiness, but that of the world at large.”  ~  Mahatma Gandhi  -1869-1948, Indian Political and Spiritual Leader

The best way to create your destiny is to be deliberate and determined….with your decisions.  ~ Kirk

obscure heroes at times greater

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Man’s greatest actions are performed in minor struggles. Life, misfortune, isolation, abandonment and poverty are battlefields which have their heroes - obscure heroes who are at times greater than illustrious heroes.   ~  — Victor Hugo (1802-1885) French Writer

Making A Mess of Success

Monday, November 9th, 2009

(no this is not my office…yet)

“Wealthy people tend to be orderly, while those who struggle have lots of messes. Each mess is a lock on the gate that keeps abundance out.”  ~ Raymond Aaron

Clean up your act, your area - declutter your life, your brain - take out the trash and make room for the treasure.  ~ Kirk
