Code of Persistence
Harold Sherman’s Code of Persistence

I will never give up so long as I know I am right.
I will believe that all things will work out for me if I hang on to the end.
I will be courageous and undismayed in the face of poor odds.
I will not permit anyone to intimidate or deter me from my goals.
I will fight to overcome all physical handicaps and setbacks.
I will try again and again and yet again to accomplish what I desire.
I will take new faith and resolution from the knowledge that all successful men and women have had to fight defeat and adversity.
I will never surrender to discouragement or despair no matter what seeming obstacles may confront me.
Enjoy! Be Persistent!!!

I needed this today. Sometimes the GIANT step is the main focus and it IS all the little steps that count. Thanks for helping me pull my head out today… I am PERSISTENT…. little steps…

Kirk -
I remember when you visited Goucher College here in Baltimore almost exactly two years ago, and in a parking lot conversation after your presentation with my wife Mary and I, you asked about the keys to staying married for what was then 25 years, now 27. I answered “persistence’, and I think you were a little surprised at that. I’m not sure I did a good job of explaining why I felt that was an appropriate word, but I think this list does a good job of illustrating. I particularly like this one: “I will never surrender to discouragement or despair no matter what seeming obstacles may confront me.” We have been through our share, but are still together, and our individual personalities, as well as our realtionship, are much the better for having persisted through the obstacles.
I think many times giving up and going on to something/someone else is the easy answer for relationship problems. Persistence, working through things (life) together, committment to each other and communications have led to our longetivity. Accepting the fact that when you put two people together things will not always go well, but it’s that committment and persistence that help you get through and continue on.

A good reminder about staying true to yourself and your beliefs.
