Do You Carry Excess Baggage?
All of us carry excess baggage around from time to time, but the wisest ones among us don’t carry it around for very long.  They get rid of it.  Some of it you have to get rid of without really solving the problem. Some things that ought to be put in order are not put in order because you can’t control them. Often, however, the things we carry are petty, even stupid.  If you are still mad after all these years because Aunt Clara didn’t come to your wedding reception, why don’t you grow up?  Forget it. ~ Boyd K. So don’t carry for yourself and don’t carry it for others! ~ Kirk Out

I used to have a job where I traveled to one or two cities every work week. I was single, no kids, not even a pet or plant or boyfriend. The perfect point in my life to be on the constant go like that. One thing I learned was how to pack efficiently. If I couldn’t carry it on the plane without checking it in, I didn’t take it with me. Even if it meant I had to wash some clothes by hand in the hotel room or mix and match outfits to stretch out a wardrobe. It might sound silly, but it was a PERFECT life lesson to me: Take what’s most important and leave the rest. That lesson carried on to other areas of my life.
I think we all have baggage in some shape or form, but I try to at least keep mine down to a carry-on size. Life’s too short to expend energy on lugging all that junk around. I’d much rather spend that energy focusing on the fun stuff.
