It’s not the load that breaks you down…

I read this one and thought to myself, “Well isn’t that the truth?!”

“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.”

Lena Horne American actress and singer

The size and dynamics of the loads we carry will change throughout our lives.  A load that seems to crush one person seems relatively light to another.  It is primarily a person’s perception of the load that matters most.  I have an absolute favorite book on the principle and power of perception that I intend to share in more detail in a future T4D.  It’s calledBeyond Illusions“  The Magical of Positive Perception….authored by Brad Barton.  In it Brad offers wonderful stories and insights designed to help people “lighten their load” by strengthening or changing their perception.

Bit of a late sharing on this one…

Perception is the key thing to all of it really isn’t it. The journey of the battle for the mind is littered with attacks and pitfalls as we seek to claim back that space which we have handed control over, and can continually hand over control of, to others – all contributing to our ‘perception of reality’.

Just when I think I have had a victory in one area, another seems to crop up and I’m exhausted and battling in that area too. Those enemies out there and their vigilance is constant which is why I know I must continue to be just as vigilant and build the walls that will keep them out through the material I put in and the time I spend in retreat, rebuilding the walls of the mind better and stronger.

the load can change at any minute, can’t it? Just the perception of it as you say. I can say that my wife and I are under a load that until now seemed manageable. until now, I said, now we feel like we will be crushed? What has happened I don’t know right now, I can say it must have something to do with my perception but I also think I have no freaking idea. I’m just toast!
