Some Scoop on Poop

The Cookie Thief – Fresh Out of the Oven
After nearly a year of hard work Kirk’s second all ages book "The Cookie Thief" has just come out of the oven(printer). Like his best smelling Dog Poop Initiative, this book has a fully illustrated metaphorical message that works as well in the board room as it does in the living room. The illustrations by artist Adam Koford are "way cool" and with him, Kirk was able to add lots of little surprises and extras that are sure to make the book something people will read again and again. This self published book is available for immediate purchase at MoreBetterBooks.com and has it’s own "freshly baked" website at TheCookieThiefBook.com

Notable names in this book include Stephen Covey, Ken Blanchard, Chad Hymas and others. Kirk’s inclusion in the book is only one more reason to buy your copy. Speaking on Success is available at MoreBetterBooks.com.

On the Nightstand
These are the books that are waiting to be read next. Some are gifts given to me after Keynotes or consulting engagements, others from family and friends. The greatest cause of this ever growing stack is my own ever growing passion for books. For example, last night after a dinner date with my wife we stopped by Barnes and Noble to purchase a new book by Max Lucado, entitled "It's Not About Me". I had a $50 gift certificate, but still managed to spend an additional $113.65 before walking out with nearly a dozen promising titles. If these books prove worthwhile, and I think many will, you'll see them appear on the other listings.

At a glance this seems to be a very Christian focused book... the idea of getting out of the boat or of getting off of the sideline and into the game... really resonates with me... so I bought it.

Love 'Em or Lose 'Em: Getting Good People to Stay

Because finding the ideal person for every workplace position has become an increasingly difficult task, the retention of top employees has become every manager's concern. Love 'Em or Lose 'Em, by organizational-development specialists Beverly L. Kaye and Sharon Jordan-Evans, proposes that this "race for talent" can be effectively run only by those who adopt programs and policies that truly support their personnel. It then shows how to do so, even in organizations reluctant to participate actively.

Kaye and Jordan-Evans encourage an initial scan of...  Buy now from Amazon.com

Topgrading: How Leading Companies Win by Hiring, Coaching and Keeping the Best People

The key to building a superior company, an increasing number of observers now agree, is the ongoing ability to recruit and retain superior personnel. In Topgrading, industrial psychologist and global consultant Bradford Smart expands upon this idea by examining in great detail exactly how today's premier organizations have assembled such top-level employees, and then showing precisely how others can do it, too. "Simply put, topgrading is the practice of packing the team with A players and clearing out the C players," Smart writes. "'A players' is...  Buy now from Amazon.com
