The Cookie Thief – Fresh Out of the Oven
After nearly a year of hard work Kirk’s second all ages book "The Cookie Thief" has just come out of the oven(printer). Like his best smelling Dog Poop Initiative, this book has a fully illustrated metaphorical message that works as well in the board room as it does in the living room. The illustrations by artist Adam Koford are "way cool" and with him, Kirk was able to add lots of little surprises and extras that are sure to make the book something people will read again and again. This self published book is available for immediate purchase at MoreBetterBooks.com and has it’s own "freshly baked" website at TheCookieThiefBook.com

Reading for sheer pleasure and adventure can be a great momentum builder to all of our reading efforts. I love books that grab me with such wonderful characters and intriguing storylines that they I find myself racing through the pages unable or unwilling to put them down until their finished. These titles were so compelling to me that the need for food and sleep was lost in the excitement of the story and the sheer adventure provided by the author. Ender's Game I usually just tell people that I enjoyed this book so much I read it twice through in less than 24 hours. I have since read it several more times and consider to be one of the greatest books on leadership I have ever read, even though it makes no claim to be any such thing. Read it once for pure pleasure... then as you read it again, and you'll want too, perhaps you can start asking yourself as I did, why is this book so engaging? Intense is the word for Ender's Game. Aliens have attacked Earth twice and almost destroyed the human species. To make sure humans win the next encounter, the world government has taken to breeding military geniuses -- and then training them in the arts of war... The early training, not surprisingly, takes the form of 'games'... Ender Wiggin is a genius among geniuses; he wins all the games... He is smart enough to know that time is running out. But is he smart enough to save the planet? ... Buy now from Amazon.com | Ender's Shadow Ender's Shadow is being dubbed as a parallel novel to Orson Scott Card's Hugo and Nebula Award-winning Ender's Game. By "parallel," Card means that Shadow begins and ends at roughly the same time as Game, and it chronicles many of the same events. In fact, the two books tell an almost identical story of brilliant children being trained in the orbiting Battle School to lead humanity's fleets in the final war against alien invaders known as the Buggers. The most brilliant of these young recruits is Ender... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Robert Ludlum Value Collection : Includes The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, & The Bourne Ultimatum I read this book nearly 20 years ago...and have re-read it a couple times since then. It is a wonderfully written, faced paced spy adventure. You may have seen the movie...and it was a good movie. As good as the movie was, the book was 10 times better. The author, Robert Ludlum did something he doesn't usually do and wrote sequels to this book, and they are Equal in almost every way to the high standard set by this one! ... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Da Vinci Code With The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown masterfully concocts an intelligent and lucid thriller that marries the gusto of an international murder mystery with a collection of fascinating esoteria culled from 2,000 years of Western history. A murder in the silent after-hour halls of the Louvre museum reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Complete Book of Swords Buy now from Amazon.com | Foundation What is now referred to as the "Foundation Series" of books written by Asimov suprised me again and again...as I felt compelled to buy the next one right after I finished it's prequel. How he tied it all together was beyond fascinating to me then, and is still today. Here is a bit of an overview. Foundation marks the first of a series of tales set so far in the future that Earth is all but forgotten by humans who live throughout the galaxy. Yet all is not well with the Galactic Empire. Its vast size is crippling to it. In particular, the administrative planet, honeycombed and tunneled with offices and staff, is vulnerable to attack or breakdown. The only person willing to confront this imminent catastrophe is Hari Seldon, a psychohistorian and mathematician. Seldon can scientifically predict the future, and it doesn't look pretty: a new Dark Age is scheduled to send humanity into barbarism in 500 years. He concocts a scheme to save the knowledge of the race in an Encyclopedia Galactica. But this project will take generations to complete, and who will take up the torch after him? ... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Struggled through these as a teen... loved them, but struggled with Tolkiens seeming obsession for detail. Read them again when the movies came out... found some of the detail to be so engaging and inviting, that at times I found myself so immersed in the relationships between the characters I wept openly, laughed out loud and felt the adreniline rush through my body during the intense scenes. You don't want to go to the grave without having experienced this classic suite of books.... Buy now from Amazon.com | We were Soldiers Once...And Young: Ia Drang--The Battle That Changed The War In Vietnam In the first significant engagement between American troops and the Viet Cong, 450 U.S. soldiers found themselves surrounded and outnumbered by their enemy. This book tells the story of how they battled between October 23 and November 26, 1965. Its prose is gritty, not artful, delivering a powerful punch of here-and-now descriptions that could only have been written by people actually on the scene. In fact, they were: Harold Moore commanded the men of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, who did most of the fighting, and Joseph Galloway was the only reporter present throughout... Buy now from Amazon.com | Deception Point In my ever so humble opinion, this book is better than Dan Brown's DaVinci Code book. Whew, it was fast, it was filled with high speed technology, conspiracy, cool characters and a plot that was in overdrive! ... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Killer Angels This novel reveals more about the Battle of Gettysburg than any piece of learned nonfiction on the same subject. Michael Shaara's account of the three most important days of the Civil War features deft characterizations of all of the main actors, including Lee, Longstreet, Pickett, Buford, and Hancock. The most inspiring figure in the book, however, is Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, whose 20th Maine regiment of volunteers held the Union's left flank on the second day of the battle. This unit's bravery at Little Round Top helped turned the tide of the war against the... Buy now from Amazon.com | The King of Torts Just read this on a flight home from Minneapolis March 4, 2004. Fairly quick read, excellent John Grisham stuff. Deepened my distrust and dis-respect for so much of what the profession of lawyers has digressed into. Certainly know much more about what "Tort" law, and like I said, this is an EXCELLENT READ!"... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Sum of All Fears Once again, Tom Clancy manages to add new twists to the alternate U.S. history he initiated in The Hunt for Red October. In The Sum of All Fears, the center of conflict is the perpetual hot spot the Mideast, where a nuclear weapon falls into the hands of terrorists just as peace seems possible. Clancy realistically paints an almost unthinkable scenario--the bomb is planted on American soil in the midst of an escalation in tension with the Soviet Union; the terrorists hope to rekindle cold war animosity and prevent reconciliation between Israelis and... Buy now from Amazon.com | Dead Aim My first book by author Iris Johansen, and a very enjoyable book. Great fast moving storyline, with all of the governement conspiracy and cover up that make for a fast paced and intrigueing story line. Throw in a few x-commandos and some government sponsered terrorists and WOW! Great book!... Buy now from Amazon.com | The Last Jihad WOW, this was an amazingly fast and fascinating read. The possibilities it suggests, mixed in with the realities we all live with in our modern world of bought and sold politicians... this book was frighteningly plausible. READ IT!...
